What the source says
Publisher previewStart with the number that most vendor comparisons omit. Now put a mid-market budget beside it. A company with 200–5,000 employees running its first serious AI program typically has $300K to $5M approved for the year, covering advisory, build, infrastructure and the internal time nobody costed. At $2M total, an MBB strategy sprint is 8–35% of the program. At $600K, it is most of it. Strategy houses earn that rate in the right situation. The point is to know what you are buying before you take the meeting. Some decisions genuinely warrant a $400K answer and a board that will not fund AI without a recognized name on the recommendation is a real constraint with a real price.
