Planning Beyond 2030: What SAP Business Suite 7 and SAP NetWeaver Customers Using Third-Party Databases or Java Need to Know

Customer choice starts with clarity. With more than four years to go, now is the right time to understand what changes are coming at the end of 2030 and what they mean in practice. The dates for SAP Business Suite 7 maintenance have not changed: mainstream maintenance remains available through December 31, 2027, followed by optional extended maintenance through December 31, 2030. At the close of the optional extended maintenance period, several support arrangements will expire simultaneously, including SAP’s current reselling and support agreements for third-party databases and Java. What we want customers to understand is what the expiring third-party agreements mean for their systems—particularly for systems running on third-party databases or Java. Customers using these technologies should prepare now and plan accordingly. According to Michael Bloch, member of the Board at the German-speaking SAP User Group (DSAG), “Early information is essential for companies operating SAP landscapes. We appreciate the open communication about the support implications after 2030. This transparency gives customers an important basis for planning. The significance of these developments will differ across organizations depending on their individual circumstances. What matters now is drawing the right conclusions and establishing a clear strategy for the way forward. However, any decision should be based on a comprehensive assessment of all available alternatives and their respective long-term consequences.”

Spotify expands audiobooks to over 180 markets

Spotify announced on Wednesday that it’s expanding audiobook access to over 180 markets worldwide, including regions across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The rollout is starting today and will continue over the coming months. With this move, more than 750 million users will be able to access audiobooks, allowing Spotify to better compete with both music streaming providers and audiobook apps like Audible. Before this, audiobooks were available primarily in English-speaking markets like the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as in Germany. The audio platform said it has more than 350,000 titles for its new markets and has increased its collection to include over 120 languages. With its launch in Spain, users in the country will have access to over 45,000 titles in Spanish. Spotify is working with more than 300 publishers worldwide, including Planeta and Mondadori, to increase the number of titles available in different markets.

Peak Season Deliverability: Why Quality Beats Quantity This Holiday Season

- Engagement and list quality are crucial for maximizing delivery speed and avoiding throttling, blocklists, and spam during high-volume periods. - Protect your sender reputation and implement strict list hygiene practices to enhance deliverability. - Use SendGrid Email Validation API to automate email address validation and prevent low-quality data from entering your system, preserving engagement and deliverability. When Black Friday and Cyber Monday roll around, global email volume spikes rapidly. The temptation to blast every contact in your database is understandable. Higher send volume might feel like a direct line to more revenue, but sending to unengaged recipients during peak traffic is a direct route to throttling, blocklists, and the spam folder. Timing is critical for holiday campaigns because email offers are often time-sensitive. If an email promoting a four-hour doorbuster sale gets queued or deferred due to reputation throttling, that revenue is lost even if the email eventually reaches the inbox late. Holiday deals rely on fast delivery. Inbox providers use dynamic throughput rates based on real-time sender reputation. High engagement signals to mailbox providers that your mail is wanted, unlocking maximum sending velocity and instant inbox placement. Low engagement prompts providers to rate-limit your sends, issuing temporary 4xx deferral errors and queuing your messages.

KapitalKontroll and Tieto enter strategic partnership to drive growth in Norway and the Scandinavia

The five-year agreement, valued at up to NOK 40 million, represents a long-term commitment to continued development and growth. Elastic named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise AI Search

- Share on TwitterShare on Twitter - Share on LinkedInShare on LinkedIn - Share on FacebookShare on Facebook - Share by EmailShare by Email - Print this pagePrint Elastic has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise AI Search. Out of the entire evaluated market, only three vendors were named a Leader. Elastic positioned highest for Ability to Execute and furthest for Completeness of Vision. In the companion Critical Capabilities report, Elastic ranked first in the AI Automation Use Case. The enterprise AI search market looks different than it did even a year ago. Organizations are increasingly moving AI applications and agents toward production, and the retrieval layer underneath them has become critical infrastructure. Teams realize AI needs search to deliver accurate results at lower cost, and they are asking which platform they can trust to power it reliably, at scale, and across all the data that matters. We believe this recognition reflects how we have responded to those shifts: Elasticsearch has proven itself as a comprehensive platform for enterprise AI, supporting over 18,000 organizations across geographies and industries. We believe  that strength is reflected in the Gartner Critical Capabilities results, where Elastic ranked first in AI Automation and second across all other use cases, from Deep Research and Context Engineering to AI Augmentation, Digital Workspace, and Enterprise Applications.

How we replaced our host vulnerability scanner with the Datadog Agent

A year ago, Datadog’s cloud environment had grown to support tens of thousands of users across the globe. As our host fleet expanded alongside that user growth, we saw that our original system for vulnerability scanning was becoming less effective at reaching and assessing every host. Over the past year, we migrated host vulnerability scanning to the Datadog Agent to address that issue. Through our migration, Datadog Cloud Security became the system of record for host vulnerability findings. Our Agent-based workflow now maintains scan freshness above 99%, measured as the percentage of in-scope hosts whose latest vulnerability scan was completed within the previous 24 hours. That scanning is one part of our broader vulnerability management program, which supports our work under SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and FedRAMP® High. Before cutover, we had to confirm that the Agent-based approach could meet our detection, reporting, and audit requirements at scale. In this post, we’ll explain why we reconsidered the previous architecture, how we compared the two approaches during a six-month parallel run, and how that evaluation informed our cutover decision. We wanted our new vulnerability management tooling to let teams scan hosts within the same workflows they already used to provision, observe, and replace those hosts. By consolidating those workflows, we could more easily investigate whether repeated findings pointed to a shared source, such as a common image that included a vulnerable package. Our teams could then update the image and replace affected hosts through their typical release process.

Avoid Sending SMS to Landlines with the Lookup v2 API and Go

SMS is one of the most effective ways of staying in touch with your customers. Why? Because: - SMS delivery isn't reliant on an internet connection - SMS are delivered almost instantly - SMS works on every mobile phone - SMS has an open rate of 98% (according to Forbes) But, what if you have an application where users have provided landlines as well as mobile/cell numbers? How do you filter out landlines so that you don't receive intermittent errors and avoid paying for failed SMS. Well, this tutorial will show you how to do so in Go using Twilio's Lookup v2 API.

Avoid Sending SMS to Landlines in PHP with Twilio's Lookup v2 API

SMS is one of the most effective ways of staying in touch with your customers. This is because (among other reasons) it's notreliant on an internet connection, works on every mobile phone, and has an open rate of 98%. But, when sending notifications via SMS in your PHP applications, how do you filter out landlines so that you don't pay for failed SMS? The phone number alone doesn't provide that information. So, in this tutorial you'll learn how to filter out landlines in PHP using the power of Twilio's Lookup v2 API. In essence, there's very little to it. The application will take an array of phone numbers and iterate over them. While iterating, each phone number's details will be retrieved using Twilio's Lookup v2 API. If it's a landline it will be skipped. Otherwise, it will be sent a short, fun, SMS. In addition, the application will log details of each phone number and if it was filtered or not, using Monolog.

How Do You Keep Enterprise AI Agents Under Control?

Nicole Hemsoth Prickett, Head of Industry Relations | Alon Horev, Co-Founder and CTO, VAST Data AI agents are moving into the enterprise, but giving them more autonomy means giving them more access. They need corporate data, search, applications and tools, and eventually the ability to take actions without waiting for a human at every step. As we discuss in the latest episode of the Shared Everything podcast featuring a chat with VAST Data co-founder and CTO Alon Horev, all of this creates a basic infrastructure question: how do you let agents do useful work without losing control of what they can see and do? Horev makes the case for agent sandboxes as part of that answer. An agent needs a controlled runtime with clear boundaries around its access, but it also needs enough freedom to complete the task it was given.

OpenAI drops another batch of mathematical breakthroughs

OpenAI has revealed solutions to a number of long-standing mathematics problems produced by an unreleased frontier model in a batch of 722 manuscripts, covering 372 result families that group related papers. It extends a run of breakthroughs that have both impressed and unsettled parts of the mathematical community while raising questions about research ethics and academic conduct. According to AGMAI, the newly formed independent advisory group of elite mathematicians put together to work on communicating the results responsibly, the release includes solutions to “hundreds” of open questions. The results have been expected for weeks, although until now OpenAI had not provided details about which problems the model had solved or exactly when they would be published. In September, the company said its model had “resolved more than 100 long-standing open problems across most areas of mathematics.” The released papers and other details also include some summaries of the model’s reasoning, estimates of the compute used, and stats about the number of problems attempted. OpenAI claims the “average result” used the equivalent of three hours of ChatGPT Pro thinking. AGMAI, or the Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, published its first recommendations in late September, urging AI labs to release mathematical results promptly and through established academic channels where possible, while disclosing details such as the name of the model used, prompts, and compute costs. The group also implored AI companies to “refrain from treating the release of mathematical results as marketing vehicles to promote their models,” a practice they said inflicts significant harm on the mathematical community. Here’s how OpenAI described its process for this release:

How to find out if Amazon thinks you have ‘flat buttocks’

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Amazon collects data about you based on what you buy. If you buy a lot of cat litter, Amazon will probably infer that you have cats, or if you buy a lot of anti-acne skin products, then Amazon might guess you’re prone to breakouts. Even if we know that Amazon customizes our shopping experiences based on our purchase history, it still comes as a surprise to see all of these personal details laid out in a convenient list. Especially when those details get uncomfortably intimate. One Threads user came across this section of her Amazon settings where you can see who the shopping giant thinks you are, and alongside more benign assumptions like “Shops from women’s departments” and “Probably owns a Shark robot vacuum,” she found that Amazon assumes she “has flat buttocks.” “I stumbled upon a page of assumptions that Amazon has made about me based on my purchases and I’m literally speechless,” an Amazon customer, @fangirlinmegan, wrote on Threads. “I mean it ain’t wrong but damn did you have to call me out like that?” In less than a day, the post garnered over a million views, including many from users who were curious what their own Amazon profiles might reveal. Here’s how you find out.
