Description

Shape the Future of AI Infrastructure with VAST Data

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the fastest-growing infrastructure companies in tech history, right at the epicenter of the AI revolution.

Recognized by Forbes as "the future of the market," VAST Data is building the foundational enterprise software powering the AI era. We engineer platforms that capture, catalog, refine, and protect massive datasets across data centers, edge, and cloud, making real-time analytics, AI training, and inference simpler and faster than ever before.

Our explosive growth is fueled by relentless engineering innovation, a customer-first mindset, and a team of fearless VASTronauts who thrive on solving computing's hardest problems. Join us at this pivotal moment in technology history and make a lasting impact on how the world processes data.

As UI/UX Designer, you will play a critical role in designing intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our web & software properties. We are looking for someone who is self-driven, enjoys working with a fast-paced team, and has experience designing dynamic web & software experiences. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and customer success to create exceptional user experiences that meet our customers' needs and enhance their interactions with VAST.

What you'll do

  • Break down intricate B2B workflows into intuitive, end-to-end user journeys, from overwhelming configuration to guided, logical steps users can complete confidently.
  • Design in Figma within a mature design system, tokens, components, and variants. Keeping work aligned with shared patterns, not one-off screens.
  • Build and iterate interactive prototypes(including AI-assisted tools such as Cursor) to validate flows, states, and edge cases before and after engineering handoff.
  • Work closely with engineering throughout the lifecycle, including technical discovery, design reviews, implementation QA, and post-ship iteration, at every level from implementation detail to architectural constraints.
  • Apply product thinking, frame problems around user and business outcomes, prioritize ruthlessly, and connect design decisions to adoption, support burden, and roadmap impact.
  • Own projects end-to-end - problem framing, information architecture, interaction design, microcopy collaboration, developer-ready specs, and design QA through implementation.
  • Collaborate as a team and operate independently. Lead your own workstreams while partnering daily with the design team, engineering, and other architects.

Requirements

Requirements

  • 5+ years designing software products (B2B/enterprise strongly preferred), with a portfolio showing. Complex applications not only marketing sites or B2C.
  • Strong product thinking, you ask about goals, success metrics, and tradeoffs before jumping to UI.
  • Expert in Figma. Components, variants, auto-layout, variables/tokens, library hygiene.
  • Proven track record partnering closely with engineering at all levels, comfortable in technical conversations about feasibility, constraints, and implementation quality.
  • Comfort building or contributing to usage, adoption, and support reports to inform prioritization and design decisions.
  • Self-directed and resilient in a fast-paced environment. Able to take a feature from ambiguity to shipped design, manage parallel initiatives, and deliver under tight turnarounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. Clear specs, constructive critique, microcopy abilities, and effective advocacy for users and design quality.

Preferred

  • Experience with data infrastructure, storage, networking, cloud, or DevOps products.
  • Comfort with design tokens and component-based design systems at scale.
  • Experience with metrics-heavy UIs, charts, time series, operational dashboards.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery and design QA in continuous release cycles.
  • Active use of AI in the design workflow, exploration, audits, prototyping.

Portfolio should show

  • At least 2 complex enterprise workflows. (wizards, configuration, admin consoles).
  • Product reasoning: problem, constraints, tradeoffs, and what changed based on evidence.
  • Collaboration with engineering, such as iteration after implementation feedback or specs that reflect technical reality.
  • Bonus: research or metrics that shaped a design decision.
