We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Lab Engineer to support our Power Electronics R&D team in prototyping and testing activities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on soldering experience with fine-pitch components (including 0201, 0402, BGA, and QFN packages), high-voltage electrical wiring, and test setup assembly. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of lab activities and supporting engineering teams in product development and validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Component Handling & Soldering:
- Perform precise soldering and rework of fine-pitch components such as 0201, 0402, BGA, and QFN packages.
- Use microscopes and reflow equipment for accurate placement and inspection of components.
- Handling and operating power electronics lab equipment.
- Purchase and maintain component inventory and proper storage of sensitive electronic components.
- Rework and fix assembly-related issues on non-working PCBs.
- Test Setup Assembly:
- Build and wire custom test setups based on engineering schematics and requirements.
- Route and terminate cables, connectors, and harnesses for electrical testing.
- Ensure all setups meet safety and quality standards.
- Lab Maintenance & Support:
- Organize and maintain lab equipment, tools, and workstations.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot basic lab instruments (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Assist engineers in executing test procedures and collecting data.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Understand electrical schematic connections.
- Maintain accurate records of test setups, wiring diagrams, and component usage.
- Support the creation of test reports and logs for engineering review.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow ESD-safe practices and lab safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 6 to 10 years of experience in a power electronics lab support or similar role.
- Proficiency in soldering fine-pitch components and reading electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with lab instruments and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication, behavioral, and interpersonal skills.
