Role description
We're seeking a Lead Java Software Engineer to work on an innovative AI initiative that brings Conversational AI to Service Desk request submission, transforming manual catalog form-filling into a smart guided chat experience that saves time, minimizes friction, and removes uncertainty for users. In this role, you'll help construct a fully integrated AI ecosystem that includes a Service Catalog Knowledge Base, a Frontdesk Agent, and specialized submission agents linked to live enterprise service catalog data, while delivering RAG pipelines, ETL processes, and multi-agent systems connecting intelligent agents to real-world ITSM workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop the React chat frontend that serves as the main channel for users to submit service requests through guided conversation instead of manual forms
- Create the central Frontdesk Agent responsible for classifying and routing user intent, plus build the agent hub that coordinates the multi-agent system using Spring AI AgentCore
- Design and maintain an ETL pipeline that extracts and transforms ServiceNow Service Catalog metadata, indexes it into AWS Bedrock Knowledge Bases and keeps it updated as the catalog changes
- Build and implement a reusable agent framework featuring capability templates, tool definitions, prompt scaffolding and an agentic conversion workflow that serves as the foundation for all item-specific agents
- Create individual agents for particular catalog items using the shared framework, where each agent manages the complete submission process for its designated request type, including integration with ServiceNow APIs
- Monitor agent interactions and LLM calls comprehensively using OpenTelemetry and Dynatrace
- Maintain rigorous standards for code quality, testability and documentation while using AI-assisted development tools to boost efficiency
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members while directing architectural decisions throughout the project
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership capacity
- Strong skills in Java (Spring Boot) and Node.js for backend development
- Hands-on background working with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway and S3
- Working knowledge of AWS IAM and KMS for managing access and security
- Strong foundation in LLM/AI engineering principles, covering prompt design, RAG pipelines, agentic patterns, tool usage and LLM evaluation
- Direct experience using the Spring AI LLM orchestration framework or comparable tools
- Direct experience with AWS Bedrock AgentCore and Knowledge Bases or similar managed RAG/vector solutions
- Proficiency with Docker, Git and Terraform
- Knowledge of GitHub Actions for building CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to make independent decisions, navigate ambiguity and resolve blockers through research and testing
- English language skills at B2+ level or higher
Nice to have
- Willingness to use React.JS for developing and refining a chat UI
- Python skills for automation scripting
- Knowledge of the ServiceNow Service Catalog
