You will build robust automated testing frameworks, contribute to a trunk-based development environment, and collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and Data Scientists to embed quality throughout the software lifecycle. This role has a strong focus on testing Machine Learning Systems, including model evaluation, functional testing, and monitoring for model drift.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automated tests for Java microservices, with exposure to integration testing between Java services and AWS Lambda functions
- Implement and maintain a microservices testing strategy, including unit, component, contract, and simple, maintainable end-to-end tests
- Support developers in running containerized services locally to prevent integration issues and keep pipelines clean in a trunk-based development environment
- Participate actively in Agile Scrum refinement sessions, ensure clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and apply BDD practices
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and other engineers to embed quality early and continuously improve frameworks and pipelines
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support trunk-based development
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies with a focus on quality and testability
- Explore new tools and approaches to improve test coverage and reliability
- Build and apply a Machine Learning Test Strategy, working with the Engineering Manager, Machine Learning, and Data Scientists to plan and implement an ML-focused test strategy
- Perform model evaluation, key functional testing, and monitoring of models to detect model drift
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in Java development and test automation
- Expertise in Java, JUnit, and Rest-Assured for building automated tests
- Skills in Pact for contract testing, and Selenium or Cypress for UI testing where applicable
- Knowledge of microservices testing strategies
- Familiarity with AWS platform services, including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
- Experience working in Agile Scrum and applying BDD practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and trunk-based development
- Strong communication skills and a passion for continuous learning
- Some experience with Machine Learning systems
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
