Role description

EPAM's Financial Services Practice is looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Java Developer to join our team of world-class engineers. You will work on cutting-edge technology solutions for one of the world's largest and most prestigious global investment banks - an institution at the forefront of financial innovation, operating across investment banking, securities, asset management, and consumer banking worldwide.

This is an opportunity to build high-performance, data-intensive systems within a fast-paced financial environment, collaborating with top-tier engineering talent on platforms that operate at global scale.

This role requires availability to work from the client's office in Warsaw 3 times a week.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based backend services and applications
  • Build and enhance scalable RESTful APIs serving critical business functions
  • Implement reactive, event-driven solutions for high-throughput data processing
  • Work with NoSQL databases to manage and query large-scale datasets
  • Develop comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability
  • Collaborate with globally distributed, cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to system design for scalability and performance
  • Operate within an Agile Scrum framework, delivering iteratively with continuous feedback

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong Java development experience - with a focus on Java 8 & 9
  • Experience with NoSQL databases - ideally MongoDB
  • Experience implementing REST APIs - ideally with JAX-RS
  • Experience with Reactive Programming - ideally with RxJava
  • Solid experience implementing unit tests
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills in English for collaboration within an international team

  • Experience developing applications in fintech or established financial institutions
  • Experience with microservice architectures
  • Experience developing systems that can scale to large amounts of data
