Role description

We are seeking a Java Backend Developer in Singapore. You will build microservices and event-driven services with Kafka, deploy to Microsoft Azure and design reliable PostgreSQL data models. You'll work with cross-functional teams to ship secure, scalable APIs, improve performance and keep production stable through strong engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build back-end services in Java using microservices patterns
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service integrations
  • Implement event streaming and messaging using Apache Kafka
  • Build, deploy and tune cloud-native workloads on Microsoft Azure
  • Design PostgreSQL schemas, queries and performance optimizations
  • Participate in code reviews, automated testing and release activities
  • Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause fixes
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for services and APIs

Requirements

  • Java back-end development experience and clean coding practices
  • Microservices architecture knowledge including service-to-service communication
  • RESTful APIs design experience including versioning and reliability considerations
  • Microsoft Azure experience deploying and operating applications
  • Apache Kafka experience for messaging, streaming or event-driven design
  • PostgreSQL skills in schema design, query writing and tuning
  • Problem-solving ability in development and production environments
  • Clear communication and teamwork across engineering and product partners

Nice to have

  • Spring Boot and Spring framework experience
  • Containerization and orchestration exposure (for example Kubernetes)
  • Observability tooling experience (logging, metrics, tracing)
