Role description
As a Lead AWS Cloud DevOps Engineer , you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure, driving cloud migration strategies, and ensuring effective collaboration across development and platform teams. You will define the technical direction for automation and software delivery processes, mentor engineers, and ensure the scalability, resilience, and security of cloud environments at scale. Your role will be critical in shaping DevOps strategy and cloud architecture, driving continuous improvement and technical excellence across AWS cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the CI/CD strategy across multiple applications and teams, championing automation-first practices to maximize delivery efficiency
- Lead complex cloud migration initiatives, ensuring seamless transitions while optimizing cost, performance, and risk at scale
- Architect and oversee AWS cloud environments across multiple customers/projects, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and highly available
- Set and evolve Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards and best practices across teams
- Act as a technical escalation point for development teams on CI/CD pipelines and IaC practices, providing hands-on guidance and troubleshooting
- Define cloud monitoring and observability strategy, driving proactive cost and performance optimization across environments
- Own the end-to-end release strategy, ensuring reliable deployments and continuous delivery across cloud-based applications
- Mentor and grow engineers within the team, conducting technical reviews and supporting their professional development
- Contribute to architectural decision-making and represent the DevOps practice in client/stakeholder discussions
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting AWS-based production systems, including 2+ years in a technical leadership or lead role
- Deep hands-on expertise with AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS, EKS, VPC, CloudFormation and IAM
- Advanced knowledge of AWS networking services: VPC, Route 53, Direct Connect, Load Balancer, API Gateway, Security Groups and more
- Proven experience architecting and operating Kubernetes (EKS) and container orchestration at scale in AWS
- Strong command of monitoring/observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Data Dog, Prometheus), including designing alerting and optimization strategies at an organizational level
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, including designing reusable modules/standards
- Proven track record implementing and scaling CI/CD practices using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline
- Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices such as IAM, encryption, and secure access control, with experience driving security posture improvements
- Advanced scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash or Shell) to automate and improve cloud operations at scale
- Solid experience with AWS Cost Management tools and driving org-wide cost optimization strategies
- Demonstrated ability to define technical direction, drive automation initiatives, and lead architectural decisions
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with cross-functional and client-facing stakeholders
- English proficiency at B2+ level or higher
