Engineering - The Engineering organization is tasked with providing a platform of services that delight our users and accelerate the velocity and innovation of security products in the cloud.

Job Summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to champion a world-class engineering culture and drive innovation within our Engineering Productivity team. In this role, you will impact thousands of engineers by shaping the technical vision for source code management, build and test tooling, and end-to-end CI/CD workflows. You will also be instrumental in driving AI productivity by championing an AI-first architecture and automating critical lifecycle processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Implement infrastructure, tools, and frameworks to keep developers in sync across the commit-deploy pipeline.
  • Partner with engineering teams to develop solutions that increase developer efficiency and productivity.
  • Design, build, and maintain automation tools for development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Simplify CI pipelines to increase visibility and enable faster insights into potential problems.
  • Champion an AI-first architecture to transform the organization into an AI-native product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant software engineering experience (Please confirm this inferred value based on Principal level).
  • Deep understanding of Engineering Productivity tools and platforms.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with build frameworks, configuration management systems, infrastructure as code tools, and secrets management.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, Go or Node.js.
  • Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, system design, building AI agents, context engineering, and harness engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full stack (web, backend) development exposure.
  • Prior experience building CI/CD using Gitlab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Vault, Artifactory, Spinnaker, or ArgoCD.
  • Extensive experience working within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
