Role description

Description

Papaya Global is a rapidly growing, award-winning B2B tech unicorn with an ambitious mission to revolutionize the payroll & payments industry. With over $400M raised from multiple tier-one investors, our innovative technology provides a comprehensive solution for managing global workforces, encompassing everything from hiring and onboarding to managing and paying employees in over 160 countries.

We're building AI to tackle one of the hardest operational challenges in business: getting workforce management right across many markets, each with its own tax rules, labor laws, payment rails, and constantly shifting policies.

This role sits at the intersection of our AI products team and business operations. You'll own the engineering, build, and delivery of reusable AI-powered workflow automations across business functions, e.g., Sales, RevOps, Finance, Support, Operations. You'll translate business needs into scalable AI solutions - agents, scripted automations, and integration infrastructure - and connect them to core business systems. You'll work closely with BU stakeholders and the AI Products team to turn AI capabilities into measurable business impact.

What You'll Do

  • Build and deploy production-grade AI workflows and intelligent agents using orchestration tools, LLM frameworks, and business logic
  • Lead initiatives independently: define scope, translate requirements into designs, build, test, roll out, and iterate
  • Partner with BU stakeholders and IT to map processes, identify bottlenecks, and prioritize high-ROI automation opportunities
  • Work alongside the AI Business Champion function to ensure workflows are adopted and scaled across teams
  • Own adoption metrics: track usage, workflow completion rates, efficiency gains, and business outcomes. Remove blockers, iterate, and scale what works
  • Stay current on evolving AI capabilities, run lightweight experiments, and convert promising ideas into practical internal products

Requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience building operational software, automations, or business systems, including at least 1 year delivering AI-powered workflows
  • Strong Python skills; JavaScript/TypeScript experience a plus
  • Experience with automation or orchestration tools and agent frameworks such as n8n, LangChain, Claude Code, or similar tools
  • Practical knowledge of LLM platforms, prompt design, and workflow engineering for reliable execution
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to align technical work with business priorities
  • High ownership and comfort operating independently with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of business operations and the systems that power them
  • Advantage: experience integrating across multiple business systems (CRM, HRIS, BI, finance, support) in SaaS or enterprise environments
