Senior Java Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer responsible for the analysis, definition, design, construction, testing, installation, modification, and maintenance of properly engineered information systems, with software as the major component, to meet agreed-upon business needs.

This position offers a fully remote role based in Poland. We are highly interested in candidates willing to start in September.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable and secure code based on User Stories and software designs
• Develop enterprise software within a multi-functional agile team, adhering to company standards and established software methodology
• Ensure delivery of reliable, robust software through the creation and execution of automated tests
• Review the work of peers and more junior developers, providing advice and guidance to benefit the team
• Inspect and adapt through agile retrospectives and reviews, finding innovative ways to make the team work more effectively
• Work with other team members during refinement and planning sessions to analyze development requirements, provide design options and complexity estimates, and agree on delivery approaches
• Provide timely status updates on areas of responsibility during Scrum meetings

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer with excellent knowledge of the Java language and underlying JVM
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design patterns
• Experience with unit testing, databases and SQL
• Understanding of security implications and secure coding
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Skill for writing clean, readable code and reusable components
• Experience in or a strong desire to work in a formal agile software development lifecycle
• Understanding of HTML and XML
• Proficiency in source code management tools such as Git or SVN
• Familiarity with continuous build and integration
• Proficiency in English at a B2+ level

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS and Elasticsearch
• Experience with CI/CD tooling, such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, and understanding of DevOps culture
• Experience with RESTful interfaces
• Knowledge of service-oriented architectures
