Role description
We're looking for a Lead Java Developer to join our team in Spain in a remote working mode. In this role, you will design and develop scalable, data-driven applications and microservices leveraging Java and cloud-native architectures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to simplify user journeys, ensure real-time data integrity and drive high-quality software delivery following Agile principles.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of business-critical platforms for a leading global financial market infrastructure provider, with exposure to emerging technologies including AI integration and advanced DevOps practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and maintain Java-based applications using Spring Boot and modern frameworks
- Design and implement microservices architectures, adhering to RESTful API standards
- Build cloud-native solutions on AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB and other services
- Ensure application reliability and scalability while improving performance and usability
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Terraform and containerization with Docker
- Apply TDD principles, covering unit, integration and contract-based testing
- Produce clean modular code and maintain comprehensive API documentation with OpenAPI/Swagger
- Collaborate with stakeholders to future-proof technical designs for evolving analytics needs
- Design and deploy AI-enabled features using Java and integrated AI frameworks
- Stay current with Java ecosystem trends, AWS best practices and AI development techniques
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development (Java 17+ preferred)
- Solid background in Spring Boot or Quarkus for enterprise-grade applications
- Expertise in RESTful APIs and microservices architecture on HTTP standards
- Practical experience with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, Step Functions, EKS, DocumentDB and Bedrock
- Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases, including SQL
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines, especially GitLab and Terraform
- Strong command of TDD methodologies for unit, integration and contract testing
- Knowledge of cloud-native design patterns and modular coding principles
- Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or higher)
Nice to have
- Experience with Elasticsearch for search and analytics use cases
- Knowledge of AI Software Development Lifecycle and prompt engineering
- Understanding of AI agent frameworks and continuous improvement cycles for AI solutions
- Familiarity with advanced CI/CD pipeline orchestration and infrastructure automation
