Role description

We are seeking an AWS Cloud-Native Engineering Manager to lead full-stack backend development efforts spanning microservices, APIs, and data store architecture, driving technology decisions while providing hands-on leadership to a high-performing engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and accountability for technology solutions and output delivered by the team
  • Provide technology thought leadership and assist the team in making the right decisions
  • Remove technology-related obstacles throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work with other architects, the CTO organization, and ensure technology governance and best practices are followed
  • Understand functional and non-functional requirements and quality attributes, and build solutions that address them
  • Contribute to and improve architecture and design
  • Build, review, and ensure quality of data models, API contracts, architecture, framework, and code
  • Assist in effort estimation, planning, prioritization, and dependency identification
  • Manage all technology artifacts
  • Analyze legacy applications and define target state design and architecture
  • Collaborate with other teams at client's Database, CTO organization, API Economy team, and similar groups

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field; Master's degree in Computer Science preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience, including 5+ years designing and developing front-end applications, microservices, and REST APIs
  • Hands-on technology leadership experience in full-stack development or with most of the technologies listed in the tech stack
  • Experience in agile methodology
  • Proficiency in Java, Node.js, Angular, and TypeScript
  • Expertise in Java, SpringBoot, microservices, and API development
  • Skills in AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Firehose, DynamoDB, EKS, and CloudWatch
  • Knowledge of DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and DB2 (legacy)
  • Familiarity with Python, Splunk, Cucumber, and API testing tools
  • Understanding of AWS Cloud Native microservices architecture
  • Expertise in the API economy with strong business acumen
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills, with strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
