Automation Tester in Java

We are seeking a skilled Automation Tester with strong Java expertise to join our team and contribute to ensuring the quality of our web applications, APIs, and microservices.

Within this role, you will architect and implement automated testing solutions throughout the entire software development lifecycle, collaborating in agile environments with developers and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design testing strategies and plans through BDD approaches, and establish clear acceptance criteria
• Build and maintain automated test scripts covering both frontend (web, mobile) and backend (services) components
• Run and oversee functional and non-functional testing efforts
• Conduct performance testing, review results, and pinpoint areas for improvement
• Handle test cases and defects with tools such as Jira and X-Ray
• Embed automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintain source code repositories
• Verify data through database queries to support testing activities
• Leverage quality metrics and analytics, together with shift-left and shift-right testing practices, to continuously improve product quality
• Engage actively in agile ceremonies, reviews, and cross-functional discussions

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software testing, including involvement in agile projects and full development cycles
• Demonstrated experience testing web applications, APIs, and microservices
• Understanding of testing processes and types (ISTQB Foundation Level / Automation Tester)
• Background in automation frameworks such as Serenity BDD, Screenplay, Gherkin-Cucumber, and Karate
• Hands-on background in functional and non-functional test automation tools
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or K6, including result interpretation
• Expertise in CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps) and version control (Git)
• Working knowledge of relational databases (SQL, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL) and data validation for testing
• Familiarity with software engineering practices such as SOLID principles, Clean Code, Refactoring, DRY, and DAMP
• Skills in GenAI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Windsurf) applied to testing workflows
• Background in agile methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
• Clear communication skills in technical contexts, with the capability to explain your work to different roles and tailor your message to the audience
• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Nice to have

• Background in security testing and tools such as OWASP ZAP, including building automated security test scripts
• Competency in managing automation pipelines
• Understanding of ITIL v4
• Showcase of Cucumber and Test Automation Framework Architecture
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot
