Senior Backstage.io GCP DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backstage.io GCP DevOps Engineer to build and operate a developer platform on Google Cloud Platform, with a deep focus on integrations, infrastructure, and deployment automation. Responsibilities

• Design and operate infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform to support platform services
• Build and maintain hosting and deployment workflows for web applications and Node.js backends
• Integrate Elastic Stack entities into a Backstage catalog and related platform views
• Implement Backstage extensions, templates, and render scripts to enable self-service workflows
• Build a secure capability to run Terraform scripts as part of platform automation
• Integrate JIRA Service Desk capabilities into the developer portal experience
• Integrate Jenkins CI/CD capabilities into the platform to improve developer workflows
• Collaborate with distributed, cross-functional teams while aligning to a work shift up to 2 PM PST
• Apply AI-assisted development practices to improve delivery speed and quality

Requirements

• 3+ years of DevOps experience for web applications and Node.js hosting and deployment
• Google Cloud Platform experience supporting production workloads
• Elastic Stack (ELK) integration experience
• Ability to work independently across distributed, cross-functional teams
• Strong ownership mindset and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and agent-based workflows for productivity
• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2)

Nice to have

• GitHub Copilot experience for AI-assisted development and agent workflows
• Jenkins administration or pipeline development experience
• Node.js and Node.js CLI development experience
• TypeScript development experience
• Redis experience for caching or platform services
