Senior Node.js Software Engineer

EPAM is looking for a Senior Node.js Software Engineer to become part of our team.

In this position, you'll be responsible for building and scaling modern backend solutions with Node.js, Nest.js, and TypeScript. You'll work extensively with GraphQL and REST APIs, cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, and AI-powered technologies. You'll have a chance to integrate LLM-based capabilities into real-world products while working closely with developers, architects, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and scale high-performance backend services using Node.js, Nest.js, and TypeScript
• Build, enhance, and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs, including integrations with external services
• Deploy and support backend solutions across AWS and/or Azure environments
• Explore and implement AI technologies and services to enhance product capabilities
• Integrate AI/ML APIs, including OpenAI and LLM-based solutions, into production systems
• Work closely with developers, architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver effective technical solutions
• Take part in Scrum activities such as Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, and Retrospectives
• Review code and help ensure consistent engineering and development standards
• Produce clean, readable, testable code and contribute to improving automated testing
• Investigate and resolve complex backend, API, integration, and performance-related issues
• Participate in technical and architectural discussions and help drive continuous improvement

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development
• Strong practical knowledge of Node.js, Nest.js, and TypeScript
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs
• Solid experience developing REST APIs and working with complex third-party integrations
• Practical experience with AWS and/or Azure
• Experience integrating AI/ML services, including OpenAI APIs and LLM-based technologies, into production applications
• Understanding of scalable backend architecture, microservices, and distributed systems
• Previous experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Strong knowledge of clean code principles, software testing, and development best practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher
