Role description

We are on the lookout for a Senior .NET Engineer to take charge of the backend migration of a mature Windows desktop application for FDIC Call Report preparation into a cloud-native, containerized architecture running on Kubernetes. This is a greenfield-on-legacy engagement: splitting a monolithic .NET Framework 4.8 / VB.NET codebase into five independently deployable ASP.NET Core services, while safeguarding every regulatory workflow that FDIC-supervised banks depend on at filing time.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the backend migration effort from a legacy monolithic desktop application toward a cloud-native, containerized architecture
  • Direct the splitting of the existing codebase into independently deployable backend services
  • Influence architectural choices and define the technical direction across the migration workstreams
  • Coach and support a small group of engineers, keeping the team aligned on standards, patterns, and delivery objectives
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate regulatory workflow requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Design and construct backend services that handle multi-tenant scenarios with rigorous data isolation
  • Take an active role in code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality and maintainability
  • Identify and address technical risks throughout the migration lifecycle
  • Coordinate deployment activities and keep services running reliably in containerised environments
  • Push forward continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and delivery workflows

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on professional experience in backend .NET engineering
  • Applied experience with legacy migration efforts that transition applications onto a new technology stack
  • Proven history of designing and delivering multi-tenant SaaS backends featuring per-tenant data isolation
  • Hands-on delivery of microservices running on Kubernetes
  • Senior-level fluency in C# and ASP.NET Core (Current)
  • Practical experience with Entity Framework Core, spanning global query filters, optimistic concurrency, and migration management
  • Working proficiency in PostgreSQL, including schema design, Row-Level Security, and multi-tenant patterns
  • Applied experience with OAuth 2.0 and OIDC server-side flows via Microsoft.Identity.Web, alongside JWT issuance and validation
  • Hands-on background with Docker and Kubernetes, including ownership of service manifests rather than merely consuming them
  • Practical experience with xUnit and Testcontainers for authoring integration tests against real databases
  • Solid VB.NET reading comprehension, with the ability to confidently trace and reason about legacy VB.NET code without needing to write new VB.NET
  • Fluent English communication at B2 level or higher, in both written and spoken forms

Nice to have

  • Experience setting up Auth0 or similar SAML/OIDC brokers for identity and access management
  • Awareness of AI Assistants for enhancing development activities and productivity
  • Working familiarity with Azure Pipelines for CI/CD automation
  • Understanding of Google Cloud Platform for cloud infrastructure and service operations
  • Practical exposure to Helm for managing Kubernetes application deployments
  • Hands-on background designing and constructing REST APIs
  • Familiarity with SAML for federated authentication scenarios
  • Awareness of XBRL for structured business reporting use cases
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry SDK instrumentation for observability and tracing
