Role description

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Network Automation Engineer to join the STAR (System, Tools, Automation and Reporting) team. This role is ideal for a Python and Ansible-focused engineer with strong development experience and a solid understanding of core networking concepts, contributing to automating complex network operations and improving the reliability and efficiency of infrastructure and services.

Responsibilities

  • Write, deploy and maintain automation software using Python within frameworks such as Ansible to manage the complete network device lifecycle
  • Connect automation tools with network infrastructure for standardized configuration management including deployment, changes and rollback
  • Perform continuous auditing and data collection across network systems
  • Develop tools for automated incident response
  • Validate automation scripts, playbooks and modules independently across lab and production environments
  • Test automation solutions to ensure reliability, scalability and adherence to production standards
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation covering deployed solutions, development methods, integration points and operational procedures
  • Support STAR projects by addressing work tickets and providing expert assistance for the Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) environment

Requirements

  • 6-14 years of industry experience
  • 4+ years of experience in Ansible development including Ansible Core, Ansible AWX or RedHat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
  • 3+ years of experience in Python development within a production environment
  • Understanding of fundamental networking concepts including Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols and various routing protocols
  • Background in managing and configuring complex network routers and switches from major vendors
  • Capability to quickly learn and use network development SDKs and tools to interact with and manage network infrastructure

Nice to have

  • Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and platforms such as Google Compute Engine, AWS, Azure or Salesforce
  • Background in OSS platforms such as NetCracker
  • Skills in data processing and dashboard and BI software
