Role description

We are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to help shape and enable an open-source data and analytics platform as an internal platform product for its users. The platform is being built as part of a transition from a Databricks-based environment to a Kubernetes-based architecture, with the target landing zone expected to be primarily AKS or OpenShift on-premises and EKS as a less likely option. This role combines platform engineering expertise with product-oriented thinking, focusing on how platform capabilities are packaged, standardized, documented and made consumable by data and analytics teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define how platform capabilities are consumed by internal users and delivery teams
  • Support the standardization of deployment patterns, onboarding flows and platform usage models
  • Shape repository structures, configuration management approaches and reusable deployment templates
  • Translate platform engineering capabilities into repeatable and consumable services for data and analytics workloads
  • Contribute to the definition of platform standards for access and permissions, secrets usage and deployment workflows
  • Establish platform standards for storage consumption, backup expectations and service onboarding
  • Improve the usability, consistency and adoption of platform services across teams
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify friction points and improve self-service and operational simplicity
  • Provide documentation, guidance and enablement for teams consuming the platform
  • Work closely with the Lead Platform Engineer and technical stakeholders to translate the Kubernetes platform, delivery pipelines and operational controls into clear platform offerings

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Kubernetes-based platforms and cloud-native delivery models
  • Expertise in GitOps and modern platform delivery approaches
  • Proficiency in platform standardization and reusable deployment patterns
  • Understanding of developer and platform user experience
  • Skills in translating technical platform capabilities into consumable internal services
  • Fluent communication skills in English at a B2+ level

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with AKS and/or OpenShift
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Argo CD and Terraform
  • Familiarity with OpenShift operator-based deployment patterns
  • Knowledge of Nexus Repository or similar enterprise artifact/image repositories
  • Background in supporting data and analytics platform users
