Role description
This role is ideal for an experienced GNC engineer with hands-on expertise in autopilot development, flight-control systems, and autonomous aerial platforms. You will develop, integrate, and validate guidance and control software, working directly with Ukrainian interceptor manufacturers on system integration and real-world flight testing. The role combines embedded software development, system-level engineering, and practical flight-test experience in a small, highly technical environment. This is a full-time, on-site role in Kyiv.
Your responsibilities will include
- Develop, integrate, and maintain autopilot, guidance, navigation, and flight-control software for autonomous aerial platforms.
- Integrate radar systems and sensor data with existing flight-control architectures.
- Work with established autopilot platforms, including ArduPilot, Betaflight, PX4, and custom systems.
- Analyze flight telemetry and test results, investigate system-level issues, and drive improvements.
- Integrate and debug sensors, embedded software, flight controllers, communication interfaces, and other system components.
- Plan and conduct flight tests in collaboration with Ukrainian interceptor manufacturers.
- Work directly with airframe partners on hardware and software integration.
- Diagnose issues across the full system, from sensors and firmware to flight-control hardware and airframe performance.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams during prototyping, integration, and flight testing.
- Coordinate technical integration activities in Ukraine and contribute to system architecture and engineering decisions.
- Maintain technical documentation and support continuous improvement of system reliability and performance.
What we expect from you
- English level B2 or higher for effective technical communication with international engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience developing autopilot, GNC, or flight-control systems for UAVs, autonomous aircraft, or related platforms.
- Strong understanding of guidance, navigation, control theory, and flight dynamics.
- Production-level programming experience in C/C++.
- Practical experience with at least one of the following: ArduPilot, Betaflight, PX4, or a custom UAV autopilot system.
- Experience integrating and debugging sensors, embedded systems, and flight-control hardware.
- Ability to analyze real flight logs and telemetry and use the results to improve system performance.
- Hands-on experience with flight testing and system validation.
- Strong understanding of the UAV system architecture and the interaction between software, hardware, sensors, and airframe dynamics.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex, system-level problems across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a systematic approach to engineering challenges.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions, explain issues, and collaborate effectively with international engineering teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with interceptor UAVs or other high-speed autonomous aerial platforms.
- Experience developing an autopilot system from the ground up.
- Background in terminal guidance or other advanced autonomous guidance systems.
- Knowledge of sensor fusion, state estimation, and Kalman filtering.
- Familiarity with MAVLink and UAV communication protocols.
- Experience with software-in-the-loop (SITL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation.
- Experience integrating radar or computer-vision systems with autonomous platforms.
- Previous collaboration with Ukrainian defense manufacturers or military units.
- Experience leading technical integration, owning system architecture, or coordinating multidisciplinary engineering work.
What we offer
- Hands-on engineering work involving autonomous systems, embedded software, and real-world testing.
- The opportunity to validate engineering solutions in real-world conditions, not just in simulations.
- A small, highly technical team where initiative and technical ownership matter.
- Official employment with reservation.
- Paid vacation and sick leave.
- A long-term project in a fast-moving engineering environment.
- Full-time, on-site work in an office in Kyiv (5 days a week).
- Competitive salary.
