Role description

We are looking for a Lead HPC Engineer to automate and modernize infrastructure, with a focus on Windows Workspaces and Linux HPC environments.

HPC powers simulation-driven product development, directly influencing time-to-market and engineering productivity across R&D operations. In this position, you will modernize the current platform to address pain points and roll it out across new accounts, supporting critical engineering workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the modernization of existing HPC infrastructure to resolve current pain points and roll out solutions in new accounts
  • Design and oversee Multi-AZ elastic deployments that support simulation-driven product development
  • Administer and tune HPC compute environments running PBS scheduler (v20.0.1)
  • Enable primary engineering workloads, including Ansys, Simulia, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, and MATLAB
  • Operate Windows Virtual Desktops supporting Ansys, CREO, and NX applications
  • Migrate virtual desktops to Amazon WorkSpaces and/or NICE DCV on PCS
  • Build scalable compute orchestration using Parallel Computing Service (PCS)
  • Deploy and sustain front-end portals such as NICE EnginFrame, EF Portal, or Open OnDemand for job submission, monitoring, and administration
  • Design storage solutions leveraging FSx for Lustre, FSx for Windows, EFS, and NetApp ONTAP
  • Deliver high-performance remote desktop services with GPU visualization capability
  • Partner with R&D engineering teams to boost productivity and shorten time-to-market

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in high-performance computing (HPC) and cluster technologies
  • At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience
  • Expertise in Linux and Microsoft Windows system administration
  • Proficiency in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Background in PBS scheduler and HPC job orchestration
  • Skills in scalable storage solutions, including FSx for Lustre, FSx for Windows, and EFS
  • Understanding of Multi-AZ elastic cloud deployments
  • Familiarity with HPC portals such as NICE EnginFrame, EF Portal, or Open OnDemand
  • Capability to support engineering workloads, including Ansys, Abaqus, and LS-DYNA
  • Competency in GPU visualization and high-performance remote desktop technologies
  • Excellent written and spoken English (B2+ level)

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with LDAP
