Role description
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will design and maintain ontologies and semantic models that transform complex domain knowledge and heterogeneous data into reusable, interoperable business concepts. You will work closely with domain experts and engineers to build scalable semantic solutions and support their integration with knowledge graphs, APIs, AI/LLM solutions, and data platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain domain, mapping, and integration ontologies
- Translate business and domain knowledge into structured semantic models
- Define classes, properties, relationships, taxonomies, identifiers, and mappings across different data models
- Map application-specific concepts and raw data structures into reusable, tool-independent business objects
- Define semantic mappings, transformation rules, identity, equivalence, classification, and validation logic
- Support semantic interoperability between heterogeneous systems and data sources
- Develop scalable approaches for managing ontologies, mappings, and semantic rules
- Create examples and test cases to validate ontology and mapping logic
- Improve the traceability, testability, and maintainability of semantic models
- Collaborate with engineers implementing ontology processing and transformation capabilities
- Support integration with knowledge graphs, APIs, AI/LLM solutions, and analytical platforms
- Contribute to ontology governance and processes supporting collaboration across multiple teams
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong practical experience with ontology engineering and semantic modeling
- Strong understanding of RDF and knowledge graph concepts
- Hands-on experience with SPARQL and semantic query languages
- Experience designing domain ontologies, mapping ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic relationships
- Good understanding of identity, equivalence, classification, synonyms, and other ontology mapping concepts
- Experience translating complex domain knowledge into machine-readable semantic models
- Experience mapping heterogeneous enterprise data models and application-specific concepts
- Understanding of semantic interoperability and metadata-driven integration
- Experience defining validation rules and testing ontology and mapping logic
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business and domain experts
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex semantic models to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
