Our client is an information technology organization that develops, implements, and supports software and hardware solutions for its members. The company delivers advanced solutions, services, and support to more than 1,000 independent communications companies, energy cooperatives, and public power entities in all 50 states, American Samoa, Palau, and Canada. It is an industry leader providing information technology solutions, including billing, accounting, operations, automated mailroom services, third-party integration, and many others.
The Quality Engineer is a senior individual contributor embedded within Agile delivery teams, responsible for ensuring that software changes meet design specifications and quality standards across the full development lifecycle. In this role, you will support automation, automation frameworks, and manual testing as needed; own test strategy for one or more product areas; contribute to modern test automation practices; and actively shape how AI-assisted workflows are adopted within the QE discipline. You will mentor peers, participate in cross-functional design reviews, and serve as the authoritative voice on quality for your assigned modules.
- 4+ years of software quality assurance experience.
- Hands-on experience with Cypress and/or Playwright for end-to-end and component testing.
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working as an embedded QE member within a delivery team.
- Experience designing and maintaining test frameworks in a CI/CD environment (e.g., GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Jenkins).
- Familiarity with API testing and service-layer validation approaches.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate testing strategies and quality risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with rigorous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple efforts simultaneously, and deliver in a fast-moving environment.
- Working knowledge of software integrations and the broader software development lifecycle.
- Ability to mentor and elevate the skills of colleagues across the QA discipline.
- Working knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing workflows, including the use of tools such as Claude Code for daily test authoring, triage, and documentation tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a business-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with the company's technology stack or a background in the utility or telecom industries.
- Exposure to or experience with any of the following is a strong differentiator and demonstrates a commitment to modern quality engineering: Zephyr - test case management; Atlassian - Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo experience; K6 - performance and load testing for APIs and web services; Postman - API testing platform; Claude Code - AI-powered coding and test workflow assistant for accelerating test authoring, root-cause analysis, and documentation.
- Relevant QA or testing certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) are a plus.
- Design and execute test strategies, including functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing, ensuring software changes meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Work as an embedded quality engineer within Agile teams, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, story grooming, and retrospectives to shift quality left.
- Participate in Change Review Boards (CRBs), design reviews, and architectural discussions, providing early quality guidance as needed.
- Build and maintain automated tests for end-to-end, component, and API test suites.
- Integrate automated test pipelines into CI/CD workflows, monitor build health, and surface failures with actionable insights.
- Work within cross-functional teams to ensure proper performance, load, and stress testing automation is in place.
- Leverage AI-assisted testing workflows and tools such as Claude Code to accelerate test authoring, failure analysis, test data generation, and documentation tasks.
- Own the test strategy, coverage, and QE SDLC processes for one or more assigned product areas or modules.
- Author and maintain test plans, release notes, and system enhancement documentation in close collaboration with product and engineering partners.
- Monitor application quality across assigned modules and proactively escalate risks before release.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and go-to resource for your product area, answering advanced questions about application behavior, test coverage, and processes.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members on testing techniques, tooling, and quality engineering best practices.
- Demonstrate the organization's Statement of Shared Values in all interactions and contributions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
