ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will help enterprise clients shape and execute their digital transformation initiatives by translating complex business needs into clear, data-driven solutions. Working as part of SoftServe's global Center of Excellence, you will collaborate with consultants, data engineers, and product teams across regions to influence strategy, solution design, and delivery outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Elicit and document business requirements for data and BI initiatives, capturing user stories, acceptance criteria, and data definitions that engineering and BI teams can act on
- Translate ambiguous stakeholder requests into clear problem statements, distinguishing genuine reporting needs from one-off data pulls
- Facilitate discovery sessions with business stakeholders to confirm metrics, dimensions, grain, refresh frequency, and intended users for each request
- Map source-to-target data flows, partnering with Data Engineering on ingestion, dbt transformations, and BigQuery warehouse modeling
- Collaborate with BI developers to specify dashboard and Tableau report requirements, ensuring usability, performance, and alignment to agreed definitions
- Maintain data catalog documentation and metric definitions, supporting DataHub adoption and consistent, certified reporting sources
- Coordinate user acceptance testing, validating delivered reports and data products against documented requirements before release
- Support data quality triage using Monte Carlo monitoring, documenting root causes and communicating impact and resolution timelines to stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of business analysis experience within data platforms, BI, or analytics environments
- Strong knowledge of the end-to-end data lifecycle, including source systems, ingestion, transformation, warehouse modeling, and BI delivery
- Practical experience with dimensional modeling, metric definitions, data lineage, and data quality concepts
- Working knowledge of modern data stack tools such as dbt, BigQuery, Tableau, DataHub, or Monte Carlo
- Basic to intermediate SQL literacy, sufficient to review data logic and validate transformation outputs
- Experience writing clear requirements documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and source-to-target specifications
- Skilled at translating ambiguous business requests into structured, actionable requirements
- Strong communication skills, able to explain data and BI trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable coordinating across Data Engineering, BI, Governance, and business stakeholder groups
