Required for this role

10+ years of commercial software development experience, with Java as your primary programming language.

Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate, including building and maintaining scalable enterprise applications and services.

Experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js, with the ability to contribute to frontend functionality when needed.

Experience contributing to large-scale enterprise products or working in an enterprise engineering environment.

A public GitHub profile with Java projects that demonstrate your practical engineering expertise.

Understanding of DevOps and cloud engineering practices, preferably with hands-on AWS experience.

Proven ability to investigate customer-reported and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and deliver reliable long-term solutions to complex or ambiguous technical problems.

Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of technical decisions, and drive work from investigation through production delivery.

Excellent English communication skills for direct collaboration with customers, product stakeholders, and distributed engineering teams, with full-time availability from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.

Active use of AI-powered tools in daily engineering work, with practical examples across coding, debugging, investigation, code review, documentation, research, or delivery optimisation; experience with or understanding of digital accessibility and its fundamental principles is also expected.

Your responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications and services, primarily using Java.

Own complex technical tasks from initial investigation and solution design through implementation, testing, and production support.

Investigate customer-reported issues and production incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective long-term solutions across application, infrastructure, and integration layers.

Collaborate directly with customer-facing teams, product managers, architects, and engineers in a distributed environment, proactively communicating technical risks, dependencies, and blockers.

Contribute to architectural discussions, technical decisions, and the long-term evolution and reliability of the product.

Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, integrations, and supporting frontend functionality when required.

Maintain high engineering standards through automated testing, code reviews, established development practices, and support for CI/CD, cloud, and infrastructure-related activities.

Apply AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, problem-solving, and software quality, while sharing practical use cases and contributing to the team's AI-first engineering practices.
