The Remote Map: Where the 22% Actually Lives

22% of the roles we track are remote-friendly — and flat. Remote is neither the future nor dead. It settled. Here is where it actually concentrates.

22% of the postings we track are remote-friendly, and that number is not moving. Remote is neither the future nor dead — it settled. Here is what "remote in 2026" actually means, and where the remote roles genuinely are.

The headline

  • 748 of 3,383 live roles (22%) are remote-friendly. Flat, not growing.
  • Hybrid won the argument. The debate is over; the market picked the middle.

  • Where the remote roles actually cluster

Remote is not spread evenly across the market. It concentrates in two places:

  • Senior infrastructure and platform work. Autonomy is assumed and the work is async-friendly, so these carry the highest remote share in our data. (This is also the platform engineering lane.)
  • Companies hiring outside their office cities. For an employer without a local presence in your market, remote is the only way to reach you at all.

  • Almost everything else — most product roles, most junior roles, most strong-onsite-culture teams — converged on hybrid.

What this means for your search

  • Do not filter blindly. If you need fully remote, target the infrastructure and platform imprints, and companies hiring beyond their headquarters city. Blanket "remote only" filters throw away winnable roles and keep unwinnable ones.
  • Seniority buys remote. The more autonomously you can work, the more remote options open. Juniors face the thinnest remote market — which is worth knowing before you bank on it.
  • Hybrid is the default, not a downgrade. A role that says "hybrid" is not "failing to be remote." It is the market norm now.

  • The geography trade-off

  • Certain hubs still dominate raw volume — the big-tech metros and the Israeli tech corridor. Remote-friendly roles let you reach those employers without the move.
  • But the trade is real: a remote role widens who you can work for and, at the same time, who you compete with. A remote posting is a global applicant pool. You gain reach and lose scarcity in one move.

  • How to position for remote

  • Demonstrate async competence: clear written communication, documentation, self-direction. Remote hiring screens hard for exactly these.
  • Show you ship without hand-holding. Remote employers are buying trust; give them evidence, not assurances.

  • Based on 3,383 live postings across 102 companies tracked by ApplyDjin, July 2026.
