The AI Software Factory: Why Building Software Will Stop Being the Bottleneck

Software development is becoming a much smaller part of building software. I expect that over the next few years, a product owner may still start with a Jira ticket, but instead of handing it to a conventional delivery team, a set of AI agents can analyse the requirement, produce a design, write the code, review it, test it and prepare it for deployment. Yes, people will remain responsible for deciding what should be built, resolving ambiguity, setting constraints and judging whether the result is right. But far fewer human hours may be required to turn that decision into working software. In manufacturing or retail, there is a word for such a process, where everything runs with high automation. It’s a dark factory. That is what is coming for software, and I put it at two or three years because we have already run several of them. For a solar energy storage company in Texas, we built a lab management portal with six agents covering business analysis, design, development, review and security, QA, and project management. Our engineers stepped in when the agents needed clarification or intervention. The application went live in seven days, compared with roughly three months for a conventional delivery model.

Agentforce Security: What Salesforce Covers and What You Own

So you’ve rolled out Agentforce. Have you checked what the agent is actually allowed to do? For most teams, the honest answer is no, and the uncomfortable part is that its access is usually much broader than anyone planned. An agent works with whatever permissions it got at setup, and during a pilot those are rarely chosen carefully. A common shortcut is to clone an existing permission set just to get the agent running. That set may include read access to Contact, Account, and Opportunity fields nobody has reviewed since the last org merge, and the agent inherits all of it. Because it answers questions well, no one asks what it can see or who should approve changes to that access. This is one of the risks teams can encounter when moving an Agentforce pilot toward production without a dedicated security review. The Gravitee’s State of AI Agent Security 2026 report found that nearly 38% of organizations already run more than 100 agents, while only 14.4% say all of theirs went live with full security and IT approval. Salesforce customers sit inside that number, and the agent inherits every permission decision your org has made since the day it was provisioned. For an enterprise, that turns into one question: “which parts of agent security does Salesforce actually own, and which parts stay with us once the agent starts reading records, firing actions, and talking to customers?” Most AI security reviews skip it and go straight to the model. Agentforce ships five security layers, you configure four of them, and that gap is where deployments go wrong. Prompt injection and LLM-level risk live in Sombra’s guide to LLM security risks in 2026; this piece stays on the Salesforce platform side, on what to configure before go-live and how to keep hold of the agent afterward.

AI Copilots in Financial Services: The Use Cases That Actually Hold Up

There are a lot of impressive statistics promising huge gains from AI. But have you ever looked past the eye-catching numbers and dug into what actually stands behind them? Often, a great-looking number is just a convenient figure that helps sell something to prospects. Sometimes, the figures are completely misleading. Either way, they create a distorted picture of what AI can actually do. So, at Sombra, we decided to separate the evidence from the hype in this piece. After two years of building AI systems for banks, wealth managers, broker-dealers and insurers, here is what actually works and where an AI copilot can genuinely help. An AI copilot is an assistant built into the systems your team already works in. Like CRM, the case management platform, the inbox, etc. It finds relevant documents, summarizes them, drafts the first version, and flags what needs attention first. The person still decides, approves, and signs.

Best AI Consulting Firms for Mid-Market Enterprises (US & Europe), 2026

Start with the number that most vendor comparisons omit. Now put a mid-market budget beside it. A company with 200–5,000 employees running its first serious AI program typically has $300K to $5M approved for the year, covering advisory, build, infrastructure and the internal time nobody costed. At $2M total, an MBB strategy sprint is 8–35% of the program. At $600K, it is most of it. Strategy houses earn that rate in the right situation. The point is to know what you are buying before you take the meeting. Some decisions genuinely warrant a $400K answer and a board that will not fund AI without a recognized name on the recommendation is a real constraint with a real price.

Salesforce for Financial Services: What to Buy, What to Extend and What to Build

Financial institutions usually start looking seriously at Salesforce when their existing CRM and operating systems can no longer keep up with the complexity of the business. Salesforce Financial Services Cloud is an obvious candidate: it combines the core Salesforce platform with an industry data model built around households, financial accounts, and other financial-services relationships. Beyond the core FSC offering, Salesforce provides additional products and add-ons for areas such as Agentforce, digital origination, collections and compliance, depending on the institution’s requirements and licensing. The harder question comes next: what exactly should you buy, how much should you customize, and where should implementation start? This article is not a catalogue of Salesforce features. Feature selection depends on your institution, operating model and use cases. Instead, we focus on the factors that shape the decision before implementation begins: licensing and implementation costs, architecture, customization, internal resources, integration requirements and the tradeoffs that determine what Salesforce will actually look like inside your organization. Sombra builds and modernizes systems for banks, lenders, wealth firms and insurers, including Salesforce and Agentforce implementations. If you have already settled on Salesforce and are deciding between its native agent framework and a custom approach, our Agentforce versus custom AI agents evaluation framework covers that decision in depth.

AI Governance for AI Agents: Sombra’s Operating Model

Many enterprises already have an agent problem they cannot see. Somewhere across the org, a working agent reads from a production database, calls a handful of internal APIs, and authenticates with a developer’s personal key. No one formally approved it, no one tracks what it spends, and no one is sure how to switch it off. This is the normal way agents arrive. In our AI adoption survey, most AI initiatives started in the middle of the organization rather than at the top, so the same agents that create value are the ones running with no oversight. That pattern turns up on most of our engagements. For enterprises, it means a simple question: “whether they can scale agents safely, economically, and repeatedly once those agents start touching data, tools, code, and money.” It’s a governance question, and let’s try to answer it from the perspective of a CTO. The compliance and regulatory side of governance already lives in Sombra’s EU AI Act guide; this piece stays on the engineering side, on how you run agents in production and keep hold of them as the fleet grows. For years, AI governance meant reviewing what a system produced. Was the output fair, was the model explainable, was the training data handled properly. Those questions still matter. They stop one step short of what makes agents different.

Salesforce Agentforce vs. Custom AI Agents: Enterprise Evaluation Framework

In the real world, most enterprises end up hybrid: Agentforce for standard scenarios, custom agents for the two or three processes that differentiate the business. Agentforce 3’s MCP and Agent2Agent support now lets both run in one Salesforce-centered architecture. Probably, somewhere in your organization, a leadership deck already has a slide about AI agents in Salesforce. The debate that follows usually splits the room. One camp wants Agentforce because it ships with the platform. The other wants a custom build because your quoting process, approval chains, or compliance rules have never fit a standard tool. The Agentforce vs. custom AI agents decision deserves better than a turf war. Through our work with clients, Sombra has seen that as AI agents improve productivity, they also drive up costs and expose weak risk controls. As a result, many businesses evaluate them more cautiously, and some even decide against adopting them altogether. This article provides a five-pillar framework for making the right decision for your AI agent project: platform fit, governance, speed and scalability, cost, and security. It reflects our experience delivering enterprise Salesforce solutions at Sombra, where both paths (and hybrids of the two) show up in production.
