Security Interview
Scenario questions test judgment, not memorization: how you respond to a breach, investigate a suspicious login, disclose a vulnerability, or design securely. Structure incident answers as assess, contain, eradicate, recover, and reason out loud.
Scenario questions are open-ended on purpose — interviewers want to hear your reasoning, not a single right answer. Think out loud and state your assumptions.
For incidents, walk a clear order: assess the scope, contain to stop the spread, eradicate the root cause, then recover and document lessons. Containing before fully investigating is usually correct because you stop ongoing damage first.
Apply principles you can name: investigate a suspicious login by checking authentication logs and MFA, disclose a vulnerability responsibly to its owner, threat model before you design, and grant access by least privilege.
Incident order: assess, contain, eradicate, recover.
Contain first, then investigate root cause.
Grant access by least privilege.

suspicious_login: check-logs-and-mfaReport a discovered vulnerability privately to the owner before any public disclosure.
found_vuln: responsible-disclosureThreat model up front to find weaknesses before code is written, not after.
secure_design: threat-model-firstGrant only the minimum access needed for the task — least privilege limits blast radius.
access_request: least-privilegeRead the concept map and follow the code breakdown.
Type the implementation, repair mistakes and work through every recall exercise.
Use the final check without hints; revisit weak concepts in short practice sessions.
