Compliance & Privacy

Frameworks structure a security program: ISO 27001 certifies an ISMS, SOC 2 produces a trust-services audit report, the NIST CSF organizes work around identify/protect/detect/respond/recover, and the CIS Controls give a prioritized baseline. Together they prove and continuously improve security posture.

ISO 27001 is an international standard you can be formally certified against; it requires an Information Security Management System (ISMS) — a documented, repeatable program for managing security risk.

SOC 2 is an audit report (Type I at a point in time, Type II over a period) showing how your controls meet the Trust Services Criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.

The NIST Cybersecurity Framework is a flexible structure organized around five functions — identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover. The CIS Controls complement it with a prioritized, hands-on baseline. None of these are laws; they are voluntary frameworks that prove and continuously improve security.

01

ISO 27001 certifies an ISMS; SOC 2 is an audit report.

02

NIST CSF: identify, protect, detect, respond, recover.

03

CIS Controls give a prioritized baseline; goal is prove + improve.

Read the implementation

Connect each part of the code to the concept before you type.

1. ISO 27001

ISO 27001 certifies an Information Security Management System (ISMS) against an international standard.

iso_27001: certifiable-isms

2. SOC 2

SOC 2 is an audit report evaluating controls against the Trust Services Criteria.

soc_2: trust-services-report

3. NIST CSF

The NIST Cybersecurity Framework organizes work around identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover.

nist_csf: identify-protect-detect

4. CIS Controls

The CIS Controls give a prioritized, actionable baseline of security measures.

cis_controls: prioritized-baseline

5. Goal

Together these frameworks prove and continuously improve a security posture.

goal: prove-and-improve-security
