Role description
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will develop backend services that support security policy management and execution in a cloud environment. Working as part of a backend engineering team, you will design scalable solutions, improve service reliability, and contribute to integrations with external security platforms. Your work will have a direct impact on the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of security operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Go to support security policy management and execution
- Build and evolve policy processing workflows, ensuring reliability through idempotency patterns, retry mechanisms, and backoff strategies
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable integrations with external controller platforms, including cdFMC and Meraki
- Develop REST APIs and gRPC services, including API contracts and Protocol Buffer definitions for service communication
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, indexes, and migration processes to support high-performance applications
- Create and maintain automated unit and integration tests, including race detection and code coverage validation
- Analyze application performance using profiling tools and implement improvements that enhance service stability, efficiency, and scalability
- Apply code quality, security, and review practices while contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and agile delivery activities
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong experience with Go, including concurrency patterns, goroutines, channels, context management, and error-handling techniques
- Advanced experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and gRPC services using Protocol Buffers
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, transaction management, indexing, and database migrations
- Proven experience building distributed or multi-service applications and integrating with external APIs
- Advanced experience with Go testing practices, including unit testing, table-driven testing, mocking, and integration testing
- Strong knowledge of code quality and security tools such as golangci-lint, staticcheck, errcheck, and gosec
- Solid experience with Git workflows, code reviews, semantic versioning, and agile software delivery practices
- Practical communication and collaboration skills for working effectively within cross-functional engineering teams
- Experience with rule engines, policy compilers, abstract syntax trees, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or security-focused distributed systems (Nice-to-have)
